The National Testing Agency will likely declare the results of the recently-conducted National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 very soon. Last year, it had released the NEET results within a month after the exam, however, this year, the results might be declared early because the academic year is already running off the track.

NEET result 2020 will be declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the last week of September. The result of NEET 2020 will be uploaded on the official website of NTA. To download the NEET 2020 result, candidates will have to log in to their registered accounts on the official website. NEET scorecard can also be downloaded using the same method. Candidates must note that the result of NEET 2020 will not be sent by post under any circumstances.

Notably, JEE Main Result was declared within a period of four days and continuing with this trend, the NEET result could also be announced within one week.

The announcement of NEET result of 2020 will be accompanied by the release of the final answer key. Candidates must note that the result of NEET 2020 will be final. NTA will not entertain any requests for the re-evaluation of the answer sheet post the declaration of NEET 2020 result. The role of NTA is limited to the released of NEET result 2020 and preparation of the merit list. Candidates who qualify NEET 2020 will be eligible to participate in the counseling process which will be conducted at both state and national levels.

Here’s the expected cut off: The minimum score or cut-off score is 50th percentile for general and general – EWS category candidates, 40th percentile for the SC / ST / OBC candidates, and 45th percentile for the PWD candidates.

 

Notably, the cut-off is the minimum qualifying percentile and scores which must be obtained to pass the test.

The final cut-off and percentile will be out on the official website once the results are released. Once declared, candidates can check their NEET 2020 result on the official website of the NTA —ntaneet.nic.in.

Of the total 15.97 lakh candidates who had registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020, almost 85-90 percent of students appeared in the exam, held on Sunday (September 13).

Nearly 90 percent of candidates appeared in the medical entrance exam NEET held at over 3,800 centers across the country on September 13, amid strict precautions in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As many as 15.97 lakh candidates had registered for NEET, which was earlier postponed twice in view of the pandemic.

 

NEET Result 2020 and the Merit List

What happens when two or more candidates secure the same marks in NEET 2020 Result? Owing to a large number of test-takers, it is not rare for two or more candidates to secure the same marks in this examination. However, such candidates cannot share the same rank in NEET 2020 merit list. Hence, NTA has a tie-breaking mechanism in place for such situations. The following parameters are considered in case of a tie:

  • Candidate with higher marks in Biology is given a higher order of merit compared to others
  • If the marks scored in the Biology section are equal, a candidate with higher marks in Chemistry is given a higher order of merit compared to others
  • If marks scored in Biology and Chemistry are equal, a candidate with a lesser number of incorrect answers is given a higher order of merit
  • Lastly, if everything else is equal, the candidate senior in age will be placed higher in the order of merit compared to others

The actual admission process begins after the announcement of NEET result. Candidates must then prepare themselves for the NEET 2020 counseling process by doing their research on the colleges that they can apply for.
